Who we are
Rasm [ruh-sum] in Hindi means "custom" or "tradition". Ghee is the first of many rasms we hope to share with you.
To say that ghee is a part of my ancestral heritage would be an understatement.
My family and I are ‘Sindhi’, one of many sub-ethnicities from India, and our ancestors trace back to ‘Sindh,’ the pre-British colonial state that existed across the Indus River Valley. Ghee traces back to the Indus River Valley Civilization. ‘Sindhu’ in Sanskrit means ‘river’ and in Latin translated to ‘Indos.’
This recipe that was given to me by my mother (shown on the right). My mother is famous for her cooking in our community back home, and she learned everything from her mother who passed away at a young age. I think my mom takes pride in her cooking because it makes her feel connected to her mom.
In our home, ghee has always been more than just an ingredient. We cook with it. We light candles with it. We use it to enhance both the flavor and the nourishment of our meals. But the real story of ghee stretches far beyond the walls of our kitchen or the branches of our family tree.
WHY GHEE
Ghee is a staple of one of the oldest healthcare systems in the world, Ayurveda.
Benefits include:

Enhances the flavor and spices you cook in it
Fun Fact: Ghee has always been more than just an ingredient. Ancient civilizations cooked with it. Lit candles with it. And even used it as skincare or in their belly button to promote detoxification.
We use it to enhance both the flavor and the nourishment of our meals.
HOW DO I USE GHEE
Don’t ask us, ask our customers!
